Side stand kickstarting

I'm working on my Atlas frame and I want to make the bike frame stronger. I need it to handle me kick-starting it while it's on the side stand.
I am thinking of putting on a new side stand. is cutting a 1-inch pipe in half and welding it onto the frame to make it thicker a good idea?

Thoughts?

That's probably not the best solution..
Welding a cut pipe directly to the frame might create stress points or compromise the original frame's integrity, especially if the welding isn't perfectly done and matched to the frame material.

Just keep in mind that it all comes down to how well the weld holds and how snug the fit is. If you decide to go that route, make sure the pipe sleeve is really tight and that you've cleaned up the weld all the way around. Trust me, when you start the kickstarting, that spot's going to take a beating! By the way, are you thinking of keeping it bolt-on for later, or do you want this to be a permanent fix?
