I'm the kind of person that triple checks everything before a long cruise and I wanna test my commander before I decide to take it anywhere. Since it has a rotary, I know the temps differ from the regular piston engines so I was wondering if anyone used a temp gun to tell me which temps I should be looking at? The coolant temp gauge shows steady temps, but I feel like it doesn't tell the whole story. Just a precationary check

Usually 180 to 200 degrees is still ok but don't rely so much on the dash as it doesn't account for realtime spikes. Use your temp gun after driving a while to compare for the housings. :) Good move on checking this tho

I've driven it for a while, did a bit or hard driving as well and the temps didn't even reach 200. Guess that's good, right?

Looks like everything's running well! Staying under 200°F on a rotary, even after some tough runs, is great. I'd check the thermostat housing and oil filter base temperatures just to get some baseline readings. Rotaries usually run best with coolant between 185–205°F and oil in the range of 190–210°F. Good job checking everything before your trip
