Why I avoid buying bikes without titles

I watched an online auction from Mach IV Motors in Wisconsin and over 100 bikes sold including a 1959 Norton International that brought in $14,000. Most didn't have titles which made me think, I always skip untitled bikes, no matter how tempting. The title recovery process is complicated, varies by state, and sellers often oversimplify it

I'm with you, those untitled bikes can be really appealing, but they often end up being more trouble than they're worth. The whole title recovery process is a nightmare. Just out of curiosity, what state are you in? Have you ever gone through the bonded title process?

Yeah it's a headache I'd rather avoid. I'm in Wisconsin, and no, I haven't tried the bonded title route yet., I have heard mixed stories, so I've played it safe so far

I saw some chatter about that auction!
$14k for a 1959 Inter is pretty solid, even without a title, but if it was a decent runner!
Anyway, you're right. People don't understand that getting a title for an old bike is more than a simple trip to the DMV!
I've heard too many stories of guys pouring money into a project only to hit a wall with the paperwork and end up with a very expensive paperweight!
I'd say sticking to titled bikes saves a heap of grief in the long run!
